COFRA has always been committed to respecting social, environmental, and safety standards.

COFRA expects all its Suppliers to mutually commit to the same social, environmental, and safety standards.

COFRA presents, shares, and submits its CODE OF CONDUCT to all stakeholders to highlight, declare, and share its commitment.

COFRA shares the following CODE OF CONDUCT to declare its social and economic standards within its corporate policy and takes appropriate measures for their application and adherence.

RESPECT FOR HUMAN RIGHTSThe company respects the rights of every person, as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
RESPECT FOR PRINCIPLES AND RIGHTS AT WORK

Adopted in 1998, the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work is an expression of commitment by governments, employers, and workers to uphold basic human values – values that are of vital importance to our social and economic life. The Declaration covers four areas:

Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining:
  • - The Company respects the rights of workers to form and join unions of their choice and to bargain collectively.
  • - The Company complies with laws and industrial standards regarding working hours.
Elimination of forced and compulsory labor:- The Company does not use forced labor. Abolition of child labor:- The Company respects children's rights to receive an education and does not engage in or tolerate child labor. Child labor refers to any work performed by individuals under the age of 15 – unless local laws prescribe a higher minimum age and/or compulsory schooling. Elimination of workplace discrimination:- The Company ensures equal opportunities for its employees and does not discriminate based on race, gender, age, religion, marital status, or sexual orientation.
RESPECT FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE
  1. 1. assigning tasks to workers taking into account their abilities and conditions in relation to their health and safety;
  2. 2. constantly training, informing, and instructing its workers based on work-related risks;
  3. 3. providing them with appropriate Collective Protection Devices (CPDs) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
  4. 4. subjecting its workers to health surveillance according to the provisions of current regulations;
  5. 5. designating workers in charge of implementing fire prevention and firefighting measures, evacuating workplaces in case of serious and immediate danger, rescuing, providing first aid, and managing emergencies;
  6. 6. requiring individual workers to comply with the applicable laws and company provisions on safety and workplace hygiene, and the use of collective protective means and personal protective devices provided to them;
  7. 7. taking appropriate measures to prevent the technical measures adopted from causing risks to public health or deteriorating the external environment, periodically verifying the absence of risk;
  8. 8. updating prevention measures in relation to organizational and production changes relevant to health and safety at work, or in relation to the evolution of prevention and protection techniques.
RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The Company strives to minimize environmental risks and improve environmental performance by promoting respect for all Natural Resources and dynamically and continuously enhancing the environmental conditions of its context. To address this responsibility and achieve the relevant goals, the Company aims to:

  1. 1. Consistently comply with relevant laws, regulations, and other commitments directly related to the environmental aspects of its activities;
  2. 2. Maintain an organizational structure that is conscious of environmental issues so that, through necessary technical competence and following the principles of Continuous Improvement, it strives to: optimize existing facilities and technologies to conserve energy resources across all its activities; reduce energy consumption and work towards reducing global warming; adequately consider environmental protection aspects in the case of acquiring new technologies and processes; all while maintaining an economically sustainable application of the best available techniques;
  3. 3. Promote environmental awareness among staff through information, training, and education. This is considering that corporate environmental protection is only possible if all collaborators, at every level, are aware of it;
  4. 4. Document and constantly monitor the environmental impacts produced by the company. This information should then be disclosed in an open dialogue with authorities.
  5. 5. Preliminarily discuss investments and new procedures with competent authorities to define preventive measures against potential sources of pollution;
  6. 6. Minimize potential hazards with a risk management system, considering the importance of preventing the consequences of any incidents for humans and the environment;
  7. 7. Regularly inform customers, suppliers, responsible firms, and anyone interested about the activities undertaken for environmental protection;
  8. 8. Encourage suppliers to adopt and achieve acceptable environmental standards;
  9. 9. Strive to produce clean energy, thereby avoiding the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere;
  10. 10. Avoid landfill disposal of its waste by promoting their recovery and reuse.
RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

The Company strives to minimize environmental risks and improve environmental performance by promoting respect for all Natural Resources and dynamically and continuously enhancing the environmental conditions of its context. To address this responsibility and achieve the relevant goals, the Company aims to:

  • - do not contain Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) internally;
  • - do not contain substances listed in Annex XIV of the REACH Regulation;
  • - do not contain substances listed in the continuously updated Candidate List;
  • - if they contain substances subject to restrictions (Annex XVII of REACH), the respective usage restrictions are adhered to.

Furthermore, if an article contains an SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern) or is included in the Candidate List at concentrations above 0.1% w/w, sufficient information is provided with the substance's name and instructions for the safe use of the article (cf. Art. 59.1 of REACH).
